NFL Mock Draft Picks 21-26

NFL Mock Draft Pick 21-25

Look, I told you I am gonna work hard to make articles for y’all. In just 3 days, the moment all of us in quarantine have all been waiting. Last Friday was the WNBA draft, Sunday was the first two episodes of the Michael Jordan documentary, and soon it will be the NFL’s turn. Pretty lucky for us sports fan, as we have not had much action for a month. So we need to appreciate this draft. It’s gonna go by in a flash, but it is gonna help us stay together. Now without further ado…

21. The Philadelphia Eagles select Denzel Mims, WR from Baylor

For the Eagles to keep their success, they need to give Carson Wentz more weapons. Having two good TEs simply isn’t good enough. Having a pass catching RB isn’t enough. Now you can me crazy in saying that, but neither of those players really stretches the field. Dallas Goedert only played 66% of his teams snaps, and is not a primary target. He is a great, amazing play, but to succeed in this league you need at least one good WR. Look at the Chief and 49ers. While both have two of the best TEs, they surround them with great WRs.

The Chiefs have the best deep threat in the league in Tyreek Hill, and had Sammy Watkins right after him. The 49ers had another speedster in Emmanuel Sanders(Now in NO), and YAC-machine in Deebo Samuel. Look at other playoff teams. The Seahawks got a one on one monster in DK next year. MT is in New Orleans, and just had the catch record. The Cardinals traded for Hopkins.

Point is, all the successful teams are getting their QBs a WR. The Eagles have done poorly in that year in and year out. Since 2014, the WRs they got in the draft are Nelson Agholor, Mack Hollins, Shelton Gibbs, JJ Arcega-Whiteside, Jordan Matthews, and Josh Huff. Even in trades and free agency, the have gotten an injury prone DeSean Jackson who is aging, Alshon Jeffery, who was good, but last year was hurt often, and he may have some issues with the team, Dorial Green-Beckham, and Miles Austin. As you can see, time in and and they have failed their QBs. Now is time to make up for those mistakes.

Denzel Mims is probably one of the best fits for the Eagles, outside of Lamb, Jeudy, and Ruggs. Mims is also my 4th favorite WR prospect, and I have been raving about him to all my friends. This man is 6’3″, and can grab a lot of balls. He has a huge catch radius. Last season, Wentz was the best QB throwing to WRs with 1 yard or less in seperation, and while Mims is great at stretching the field, he is perfect for those types of catches. He is able to box out defenders, and make that contested catch, and even break some tackles. While he ran a slower 40 than Jefferson, his in-game ability to be that threat has been shown far more. Easy choice

22. The Minnesota Vikings select Jeff Gladney, CB from TCU

After Mackensie Alexander and Trae Waynes left in the offseason, the Vikings need their next CB. Last year, they were really average in pass defense, but they now need that new talent. Xavier Rhodes, and Linval Joseph both aren’t on the team anymore, so defense is definitely a need for this team. If they can land Gladney, they would get a very good a great player for great value. Gladney will be an amazing player for the Vikings, and reinforce that defense if he can be groomed.

Gladney is a mixed bad, in some areas. Some of his weaknesses can act as strengths. For example, when he is lining up in zone he is too patient, and has some bad anticipation skills. He isn’t really someone that sees the game instinctively. However, having said this, he uses this in press coverage very well. He doesn’t always overreact because he isn’t super instinctive, allowing him to make the least errors out of any QB in all of the natio last year. He was ranked with the lowest passer rating allowed in all of CFB (min 200 snaps), with a rating of 45.2 and has been ranked as the 3rd best corner by PFF since 2018. He has good length and has great durability. He is also the best slot corner. He also is fluid, and can make reads super fast and transitions when he needs to. An amazing pick up, probably at the right spot.

FROM A TRADE IN THE 6-10 MOCK DRAFT
23. The Carolina Panther select Kenneth Murray, LB from Oklahoma

The Panthers lost of their best players of all time in Luke Kuechly this offseason. That is a HUGE loss for a team that has relied on him for years. He was the defense’s shotcaller, and probably the most influential lockerroom leaders. Last year he only allowed 395 total receiving yards, and was once again one of the best players on the team. Filling his role will be very hard, and could take a couple years. However if given the opportunity, they need to pounce on Kenneth Murray.

Kenneth Murray is the LB you want on your team. He plays fast, and with watchful eye. He scouts the field, and looks for every opportunity with urgency, and carefully gazes, almost everywhere, the other team’s weapons. He plays ball carriers aggressively and has good tackle range. His speed allows him to close in on some of he fastest, so you don’t need to worry. Sometimes his reading ability makes him play with patience, but it didn’t cost him to many plays last

24. The New Orleans Saints select Patrick Queen, LB from LSU

Another LB is off the board, with the Saints selecting Patrick Queen. He is a big riser, and this man didn’t even start for the first 3 weeks. His potential is there, but he is extremely raw. This is a strong, and fast physical linebacker. He runs with a head of steam and wants to knock all his opponents out. Every game this player got better. It is clear to see why he is predicted to go in the first round. With his rawness however, Queen’s lack of instinct shows. He let WRs go pass him in zones, and let zone runs get a little. PFF says “he is the easily the 2nd best LB in this class.” He has potential to develop into something great.

He sees the field like a pro RB, and knows how to navigate through the field. He is an exceptional run stuffer, and has very good reaction to any offensive surprises. He moves quickly in coverage and won’t let most routes over the middle beat him. His high motor drives him and creates this weird feeling. It’s like he is taking your soul as you watch him run in for the tackle.

25. The Minnesota Vikings select Jalen Reagor, WR from TCU

The Minnesota Vikings desperately need to fill the void left by Diggs’ departure. Adam Thielen cannot handle the load he is about get if the Vikings don’t address their biggest weakness. It would be 190+ targets, because they literally have no depth behind him. Kirk would benefit extremely from this, and so would Cook. Reagor is a field stretcher.

The name of the game for this man is explosion and versatility. Reagor is a craft WR and relies on his hip movement to draw CBs and bait them in multiple ways. He consistently looks for more than one way to approach and run. His ability accelerate as he moves down field on routes like a vertical one is impressive. Once he even has one step on a DB, he can take it to the next level. While he shines in the passing game, he uses his agility well in the run game as well. On jet sweeps and reverses, he fights for extra yards, and helps lead blockers to where he needs them. A complete player for a great team.
